One of the EU’ priority in the field of health is to reduce health inequalities.

Numerous EU policies play a role in tackling health inequalities. Moreover the EU is also cooperating with national authorities, international organisation and other stakeholders through the Open Method of Coordination and the establishment of a group of experts in order to shares information and good practice on health inequalities and provides input into policy development.

On 20 October 2009 an EU Communication "Solidarity in Health: Reducing Inequalities in the EU "" was published.
