National Institute of Public Health of the Republic of Slovenia
The National Institute of Public Health of the Republic of Slovenia is a government agency accountable and responsible for public health promotion at the national level. The National Institute of Public Health of the Republic of Slovenia is interested in the following work areas: Alcohol, Child Health, Communicable Diseases, Drugs and substance Abuse, Environmental Health, Food Policy, gender, Health Impact Assessment, Health Systems, HIV/AIDS and Sexual Health, Mental Health, Nutrition, Physical Activity and Tobacco.
In the context of the project 'Capacity Building for health promotion in Central and Eastern Europe', the institute elaborated a brief profile of the situation with respect to health promotion in Slovenia : Health promotion in Slovenia as well a Capacity Plan for health promotion.

Mojca Gabrijelčič Blenkuš is the head of the Health Promotion Centre at the Institute of Public Health of the Republic of Slovenia. Her special interest are nutrition and health promotion where she has been mostly involved in research and program development, especially for children and adolescent.

She is WHO national counterpart for nutrition and a member of Nutrition and Physical Activity Network of the EC. She is a teaching assistant at the Medical faculty, University of Ljubljana.

- Presentation of the expert: Eva Stergar is a workplace health promotion counselor at the Clinical Institute of Occupational, Traffic and Sports Medicine with a wealth of experience in the field of the health promotion/health education and project leadership. She studied psychology. After her graduation she became a researcher at the University Development Centre. She obtained master's degree at the field of educational psychology in 1989. In 1990 she moved to the National Institute of Public Health where she took over health education and health promotion, acting as a head of the health education department and after the reorganization as the first head of the health promotion centre. She was responsible for planning, co-ordination, implementation and reporting on health promotion/health education activities in Slovenia. From 1992 till 2004 she was a national co-ordinator of the Slovenian part of the European Network of Health Promoting Schools. She is a principal investigator for the Slovenian part of the European School Survey Project on Alcohol and Other Drugs (ESPAD) from 1994 on. She introduced a WHO Cross-National Survey Health Behaviour in School-Aged Children (HBSC) in 2001 in Slovenia and was PI till May 2005. In 2004 she moved to the Clinical Institute of Occupational, Traffic and Sports Medicine with a clear interest to develop workplace health promotion. In 2005 – 2006 she was director of Phare project Lifelong Learning for healthy work and life; she was responsible person for a WHP part of Phare project “Development of Slovene System of Health and Safety at Work” in 2000. As a contact person for Slovenian NCO for ENWHP she co-ordinated Slovenian part of EU funded projects: Work Health II., DragonFly and MoveEurope.
